July 16, 2012—Comtrol released the RocketLinx ES9528-XT Layer 2 industrial Ethernet switch. The RocketLinx ES9528-XT is a fully managed industrial-grade rack mount switch equipped with 24 10/100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet ports and four Gigabit Ethernet RJ45/SFP combo ports. The four Gigabit combo port design allows 10/100/1000 copper Ethernet connections, and the SFP ports accept Gigabit SFP transceivers, including SX, LS, LHX, ZX and XD, supporting a wide variety of connections and distances. The switch is ideally suited for control rooms and traffic applications where its high port density, fan-less design and extended operating temperature range extend reliability beyond that of common IT-grade switches.
The RocketLinx ES9528-XT features a 1U design and is typically mounted within a 19-inch rack, along with other 19-inch public servers or other network equipment. When lower-tier industrial switches are aggregated to the ES9528-XT, the 24 Fast Ethernet ports and four Gigabit uplink ports allow the connection of up to twelve 100M rings plus two Gigabit rings—enhancing network redundancy. The switch also features a wide -40° to +74°C operating temperature and NEMA TS2 rating, making the switch an ideal solution for use in traffic applications and harsh industrial environments.
