Add more I/O to your Allen-Bradley® RSLogix®-based system without overloading your PLC Opto 22’s IO4AB™ adds I/O to your A-B PLC system using distributed intelligence. Since the I/O processor automatically handles many local tasks—from counting and latching to thermocouple linearization and PID loop control—controller impact is minimized. You can add analog, digital, and serial I/O on the same compact mounting rack. IO4AB communicates with RSLogix systems using the standard EtherNet/IP™ protocol. IO4AB intelligent remote I/O complements your A-B system.
You’ll like Opto 22’s high quality, lower cost, and the ease of doing business with us.

Add new process control capabilities without impacting system throughput
The analog I/O generally required by process control can slow down your system or require additional PLCs—unless you use IO4AB. Our intelligent remote I/O has built-in analog functions that are handled locally. Opto 22 knows analog. We introduced the first analog I/O for a PC-based control system in 1983 and called it Optomux. We've been making reliable, industrial analog I/O ever since.
Transformer isolated and optically isolated from the field side to the control side, analog IO4AB is designed for harsh environments. Each module contains 2 to 32 points of I/O. Since each point is software configurable, a small number of modules can handle a wide range of inputs. Analog IO4AB is available in many signal types:
- Current inputs and outputs (with and without loop sourcing)
- Voltage inputs and outputs
- RMS
- Rate
- Temperature (ICTD and thermocouple)
- RTD
- pH/ORP
- Thermistor
- Load cell
- TPO
For process control applications, the following built-in analog functions are especially useful:
- PID loop control (up to 96 loops per I/O processor)
- Minimum and maximum values
- Analog scaling
- Calibration
- Ramping
- Totalizing
- Engineering unit conversion
- Thermocouple linearization
- Temperature conversion
- Watchdog timeout
- Output clamping
