RICHMOND, VA (August 19, 2005) – As North American manufacturers and process industries continue migrating their operational and field-level control systems towards low-voltage DC driven systems, and as the number of active devices in control panels increases, the need for higher-power DC powering solutions continues its unabated growth. In order to enable these customers to reliably and efficiently power their next-generation DC control systems, Weidmuller announces the availability of seven new regulated DC power supplies with greatly enhanced features. These new regulated, 24 Volt DC power supplies provide customers with reliable, space-efficient solutions to drive their higher-power demanding automation control panels.
These solutions include four new single-phase input, 3A, 5A, 10A and 20 A/ 24 Volts output power supplies, as well as three new three-phase input, 10A, 20A, and 40A/24 Volts output power supplies.Weidmuller has designed each of these new power supplies to deliver added benefits for control applications through the following:
- The added “power boost” feature enables each power supply to withstand up to 130% of its rated current for up to 5 seconds, making it the ideal solution for applications with inductive loads.
- An internal, built-in redundancy module makes paralleling power supplies a snap, and eliminates the need for an external module – saving valuable panel space and reducing overall cost.
- An alarm relay contact simplifies trouble-shooting by providing instant visual indication of power supply shutdown or failure.
“We continue to see a need for higher-power, regulated DC power supplies in process control applications, as well as in manufacturing automation settings here in North America,” said Francisco Tacoa, Marketing Manager for Weidmuller’s Electronics product line.
“These customers need higher power solutions that are reliable, space-efficient, easy to install, use and maintain, and able to handle the type of signal transients commonly found in industrial processes; our seven new power supplies address these needs in highly cost-effective solutions.”For additional product information, go to www.weidmuller.com .Weidmuller is a leading supplier of control and automation connectivity solutions such as power delivery solutions, design-build solutions, complete rail solutions, switching technology for control panels, printed circuit board terminals and connectors, and terminal blocks.
