ATLANTA, March 9, 2005 -- The SIMATIC® RF300 RFID system from Siemens Energy & Automation enhances high-speed identification in production applications, including assembly and production lines and conveyor systems. The system includes a new read/write device (reader) and two new data carriers (tags). The RF identification system (13.56 MHz radio frequency) is designed for assembly lines, production lines and conveyor systems. It is suitable for simple as well as demanding applications with high price/performance ratio demands.
For simple applications with low data quantities, a low cost solution with IQ-Sense interface is available. The SIMATIC RF310R reader is designed with an integrated antenna and can be operated with ASM 452, 456, 473 and 475 communication modules for Siemens SIMATIC S7300 controllers and PROFIBUS communications network. Data transfer rates faster than 3,000 bytes per second are possible between reader and tag. As a result, exceptionally short cycle times are possible, making the new reader especially useful in automotive motor manufacturing, for example. The new SIMATIC RF300 tags offer IP67 and IP68 degrees of protection and have 8KB and 32KB data storage capacities.
Work piece tag information is protected from being overwritten. All RF300 tags have a unique, unchangeable serial number (unique identifier) and the capability of writing up to 20 bytes at once (One Time Programmable Function). The tags also feature an integrated diagnostic function that simplifies commissioning and maintenance, and improves plant uptime.
