How to Enroll

Whether you’re looking to share your experience or learn from someone else’s, the ISA Mentor program makes it easy to get started. Follow the steps below to create your profile, enroll in the program and begin building a meaningful mentoring connection.

Step 1: Complete Your Profile

Mentors and mentees begin by completing a mentor or mentee profile. Be sure your contact information is up to date, add a profile photo, expand your bio and describe what you are looking for in the mentoring relationship. A complete and accurate profile is essential for successful selection and matching.

Step 2: Enroll in the Program

Once your profile is complete, you will need to enroll as a mentor or mentee. During enrollment, make selections for each of the program demographics, including topics, locations, specialties and career stages. Some fields are required. The more information you provide, the easier it will be to make the best match. Keep in mind that you must be enrolled in the program before you can request a mentor or mentee.

Step 3: Search for a Match

After enrolling, mentees can search the Mentor directory using a variety of criteria, such as area of expertise, job type, area of interest or location. The mentoring system will display a list of available mentors who closely match the mentee’s preferences.

Step 4: Request a Connection

Next, click on the name of the member you are interested in connecting with. This will take you to that person’s profile page. Review the profile, and if it seems like a good match, look under the profile image for the Mentor Match badge. Clicking that badge will allow you to request a connection. If it is not the right match, simply use the back button to return to your search results.

Step 5: Start the Mentoring Relationship

After reviewing mentor profiles, the mentee submits one request to the mentor of their choice. Once staff approves the connection, the mentor will receive an email notification with a link to log in to the system and access the mentee’s profile.
